Wrigley Field provides prime advertising space for numerous sponsors who pay prime rates for the privilege of being seen with the Cubs. One nearby building had historically hijacked this advantage, but no longer.
Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts decided to have a pair of signboards erected in the left-field bleachers, blocking the view of a Horseshoe Casino ad seen by fans and television viewers throughout 2009. This sign had replaced the one which gave the structure its local nickname, “the Budweiser Building”.
Ironically, the new signboards will likely advertise Bud Light for the 2010 season.
