Canada’s greatest poker player has to be Daniel Negreanu. Having won four World Series of Poker bracelets, Negreanu leads his fellow countrymen on the all-time Canadian bracelet-winner list.
Well-known for his talkative table presence, Negreanu is a fan favorite and he is one of the few players that have been able to successfully build a strong Internet presence through his popular forum FullContactPoker.
Having started learning the game at age 15, it wasn’t long before Negreanu left his home of Totonto for the big city lights of Las Vegas. By 22, Negreanu had decided Sin City was going to be his home and he hasn’t looked back since.
Arguably one of the world’s best tournament player, Negrenau’s mug has been on television plenty of times which is one of the main reasons why he has such a big following. In addition to winning four World Series of Poker bracelets, Negreanu has also won two World Poker Tour events.
A strong proponent of the sport, Negrenau has done a lot to try and improve the game including sitting on World Series of Poker’s Players Advisory Board. He also represents the game while writing his numerous columns that are syndicated in newspapers and on Web sites across North America.
Although he is primarily known as a tournament player, Negrenau has played his share of high stakes action in the Big Game at Bobby’s Room. More a fan of heads up play, Negreanu once issued a challenge to players. He didn’t have too many takers.
