According to ESPN, Jamie Gold’s historic victory in the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event was “one of the most dominant performances in sports history.” Having won the title with solid play and his uncanny knack for getting information from his opponents by talking to them during hands, Gold snagged over $12 million after he defeated 8,772 players (the largest Main Event field in history).
A former Hollywood agent turned producer, Gold took his love for the game and parlayed in to stardom after he won the Main Event. Using his fame to do some good, Gold travels the country playing in and hosting charity events. His commitment to making the world a better place has earned him the nickname “The Poker Philanthropist.” He has attended over 40 charity events since his WSOP win and he has started his own nonprofit called The Jamie Gold Foundation.
