Gnuf may not be a household name — in fact, the word may not really mean anything at all — but players all over the world have been raving about the all-in-one online gambling destination for the last few years. We’ve examined Gnuf Casino’s many delights in our casino review section, but we felt the poker section of Gnuf’s site was well worth a review of its own.

Gameplay 8.5/10

Microgaming provides Gnuf’s poker software and network (as well as the casino games), which is virtually a guarantee of quality. Online poker veterans may have seen some flashier poker clients, but few that actually play any better — a classic case of substance over style.

That’s not to say Gnuf’s poker looks bad in any way; in fact, we much prefer their clean and clear interface to all those that we’ve seen that are cluttered and bursting with 3D gimmicks.

You get the most popular games: Texas Hold’em and Omaha (of course), but also 5 and 7 Card Stud, and even 5 Card Draw. No hi-lo or even full lowball games, but few online poker rooms do, so we won’t hold it against Gnuf. In any case, you also get a vast amount of tournament action and a constant supply of ring games any time you log in — with player levels tending more toward the fishy end than the shark side.

Speaking of tournaments, Gnuf offers Freerolls, Rounder Tournaments (sit-n-go torunaments with a ‘second chance’), Survivor Tournaments, and plenty of Satellites (including WPT, WSOP, WSOPE, European Poker Tour, Irish Poker Open…). There are plenty of sit n go’s, so you can truly play anytime, from anywhere, and not feel like you’re too pressed for time.

Customer Service 8/10

The support staff is shared between the casino, bingo, and poker sections, so everything we’ve said in our previous review still applies. While we were surprised about the lack (or terminal low-key nature) of telephone and live chat options, the FAQ is frankly excellent; the website even states “We strive to build the best FAQ in the industry”, and we can’t think of any better. The email is also impressive, offering support in many languages, and the response time is generally quite fast.

Wrap up

Gnuf Poker is just as high quality as Gnuf Casino, which is really saying something. You can find the game that you want to play, any time that you log on. The software is solid and safe, the games exciting and fun, the interface user-friendly (and not bad to look at!). Regular promotions and a sizable community keep you excited to see what comes next, as well as helping you get the most for your money.

Though the online poker world is not as flooded with competitors as it has been in recent years, Gnuf still has plenty of competition. We’re hopeful that the sheer quality of the Microgaming Network and Gnuf software will enable Gnuf to rise to the top — they definitely have what it takes.
