One of the few online casinos in our reviews to have “opened its doors” before the turn of the century (1998, to be exact), Jackpot City Casino has seen countless contenders come and go. Perhaps you won’t be blown away by the graphics on the front page, but the site is as user-friendly as they come. Like a classic casino on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip, Jackpot City Casino leaves the gimmicks to the new kids on the block, while taking care of the things that matter most to online gamblers: high-quality games, top-notch customer service, and letting the player call the shots.

No shortage here — in fact, Jackpot City Casino can put their quantity and variety of games up against anybody in the business. Microgaming handles the nuts and bolts, which means two things: 1) you get to tweak all the little details if you like, and 2) no download versions exist for all your favorite casino games. Very handy if you have a Mac, or if you have a phobia about downloading and installing.

Ease of use is not an issue, nor is speed. Jackpot City may have been around longer than the competition, but they’ve definitely upgraded their technology with the times.

Promotions can be the difference between many online casinos that otherwise share similar features. Jackpot City keeps a hand in the ring with the standard 100% sign-up match bonus and a sampling of 50% game-specific bonuses. A number of free offers (tounaments, spins, prizes) sweetens the deal, and the satisfying Belle Rock Rewards is more or less the standard for VIP programs.

One feature that caught my eye was the 30-minute trial run of the site. You start with 500 free credits, but during this 30 minute period you can use them to win real money (up to $500). I’ve seen plenty of free online casino games, and plenty of matching sign-up bonuses, but this is a relatively unique mix of the two. And it doesn’t replace the 100% match bonus, so you’re not completely out of luck if you don’t happen to win the $500.

Jackpot City Casino prides themselves on their customer service, and it’s no wonder — the difference between a business that can go the distance and a fly-by-nighter is almost always in the personal touches. They have 24/7 live support (with specific numbers for different countries and languages — more options than I’ve seen from some of my all-time favorite online casinos!), as well as live chat, email, and a healthy number of automatic and self-help options.

Jackpot City Casino may surprise you. Owing to the sheer age of the virtual establishment, you may not expect to be impressed. However, after any amount of time, you will find several details that only an experienced and downright thoughtful online casino business could get right. My bottom line is always: “would I let them handle my money?” and here I’d say “yes” without hesitation.
