Easily the most recognizable face in poker, Doyle Brunson has been killing the game for years and despite having moved on in years is still as sharp as he was the day he first started playing the game. His legend is almost as large as his life, having made a career traveling the U.S. (and later the world) playing the highest stakes available.

A natural athlete and gifted sportsman that eventually made it through three years with the Minneapolis Lakers, Brunson was sidelined after an accident at a factor where he worked. Unfortunately for “Texas Dolly,” his athletic career came to an end but it wasn’t long before he began sewing his competitive oats in his new love poker.

Having first made his bones in the poker world as one of the members of a band of traveling poker cardsharks called the Texas Rounders, Brunson quickly learned how to be successful in the sport while maintaining a vigiliant watch for local authorities that viewed the cards games as illegal.

After tiring of traveling and living a life on the road running from the cops, Brunson finally decided that he was going to call gambling mecca Las Vegas home. Soon after arriving, Brunson found himself at home amidst the high stakes action and he hasn’t looked back since.

Brunson has gone on to have one of the most storied career in the game and he is a shoe-in for the Poker Hall of Fame. Having won 10 WSOP bracelets including back-to-back Main Event championships, Brunson is tied with Johnny “The Orient Express”  Chan for second on All-Time bracelet list. Brunsons and  Chan trail Phil Hellmuth who currently holds the record with 11 bracelets.

In addition to banking over $5.8 million in tournaments earnings, Brunson continues to dominate the “Big Game” held at Bobby’s Room in the Belaggio in Las Vegas. Despite frequently being the oldest player in these games which feature blinds as high as $4,000/$8,000, Brunsons still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve.

Brunsons is also well-known for his instructional poker books Super System and Super System II.
